November 25, 2020Books, Hot off the Press
+5

And with December, this is officially the last hot off the press for this tumultuous 2020! I am sure everyone is ready to leave it behind and can’t wait for some releases of 2021!

Without further ado, let’s see what’s coming out this month!

THE COUSINS by Karan M. McManus

December 3rd, Penguin

The Storys are the envy of their neighbours: owners of the largest property on their East Coast island, they are rich, beautiful, and close. Until it all falls apart. The four children are suddenly dropped by their mother with a single sentence:

You know what you did.

They never hear from her again.

Years later, when 18-year-old cousins Aubrey, Milly and Jonah Story receive a mysterious invitation to spend the summer at their grandmother’s resort, they have no choice but to follow their curiosity and meet the woman who’s been such an enigma their entire lives.

This entire family is built on secrets, right? It’s the Story legacy.

This summer, the teenagers are determined to discover the truth at the heart of their family. But some secrets are better left alone.

A SKY BEYOND THE STORM by Sabaa Tahir

December 10th, Harper Collins

Picking up just a few months after A Reaper at the Gates left off…

The long-imprisoned jinn are on the attack, wreaking bloody havoc in villages and cities alike. But for the Nightbringer, vengeance on his human foes is just the beginning. At his side, Commandant Keris Veturia declares herself Empress, and calls for the heads of any and all who defy her rule. At the top of the list? The Blood Shrike and her remaining family. Laia of Serra, now allied with the Blood Shrike, struggles to recover from the loss of the two people most important to her. Determined to stop the approaching apocalypse, she throws herself into the destruction of the Nightbringer. In the process, she awakens an ancient power that could lead her to victory–or to an unimaginable doom.

And deep in the Waiting Place, the Soul Catcher seeks only to forget the life–and love–he left behind. Yet doing so means ignoring the trail of murder left by the Nightbringer and his jinn. To uphold his oath and protect the human world from the supernatural, the Soul Catcher must look beyond the borders of his own land. He must take on a mission that could save–or destroy–all that he knows

THE PRINCE AND THE TROLL by Rainbow Rowell

December 15th, Amazon Publishing

A charming everyman and a mysterious something-under-the-bridge cross paths in a short fairy tale by the #1 New York Times bestselling author of Eleanor & Park and the Simon Snow series.

It’s fate when a man accidentally drops his phone off the bridge. It’s fortune when it’s retrieved by a friendly shape sloshing in the muck underneath. From that day forward, as they share a coffee every morning, an unlikely friendship blooms. Considering the reality for the man above, where life seems perfect, and that of the sharp-witted creature below, how forever after can a happy ending be?

MERCY: THE FAIR LADY, THE FROST AND THE FIEND by Mirka Andolfo December 8th, Image Comics

MERCY, a goth-inspired, Victorian monster series explores topics of “otherness,” damnation and redemption, and what it means to be a monster in a horror tale perfect for fans of Penny Dreadful, Crimson Peak, The Alienist, Parasol Protectorate, and Dark Shadows. The new series by UNNATURAL‘s acclaimed creator MIRKA ANDOLFO is a gothic horror tale where mysteries and unspeakable sins are blend together in a unique and sensual way. Washington State, late nineteenth century. During the frenzied historical era commonly known as the Klondike Gold Rush, a mysterious woman arrives in Woodsburgh, a small mining town close to the Canadian border.

It’s been a few years since the Swanson mine was closed following the terrible accident that claimed the lives of so many men and women, included the owner’s and the city it’s still struggling in search for a new place on the map of the country.

Elegant and extraordinarily wealthy, Lady Hellaine arrives in the city accompanied by her faithful butler Goodwill and settles in one of the most luxurious mansions in town. A lifestyle that contrasts sharply with that of the majority of the population, forced to choose between humble crafts and illegal activities.

No one is aware of the reasons that led such a classy lady to move from Seattle to the small village, but her arrival certainly did not go unnoticed. Especially in the eyes of Lady Swanson, widow of the late mine owner and leading figure of the local bourgeoisie. Lady Hellaine’s plans will bring her on a collision course with the powerful Lady Swanson, who, for reasons not entirely rational, distrusts the newcomer.

Meanwhile, the streets and surroundings of Woodsburgh are flooded in blood: a heinous creature is killing incautious citizens, wreaking havoc on their bodies. Enough to induce local authorities to impose a strict curfew after sunset.

And with the falling of the first snow, the “Woodsburgh Devil”‘s fury seems to have even increased. What’s the connection, if any, between this disturbing presence and the ivory-skinned stranger?

Who’s Lady Hellaine, really? And what’s her secret agenda?

Well, this list was meant to be much longer, but for different reasons, some books publishing dates have been postponed to next year. Are any of this December release books on your list? Let us know what books are you most waiting for in the comments!

About Cristina

Cristina lives in her own little world full of sarcasm, bad jokes to which she only laughs, books and music. She is an aspiring writer and lovers of stories. Makes a mean Teriyaki sauce even though she's pretty much hopeless in the kitchen. She is the youngest of the bunch and the one to most probably flip you her middle finger if spoken to before her daily coffee dose.
