If you have been here before, welcome to the re-launch of The Grumpy Olive. If not, well…you did not miss out much, until now.
I am your editor-in-chief, Simona. I am the boss(
y) around here and I am a 30-year old girl with great creativity, but poor execution skills.
Until this day, at least. It’s the re-launch!
It’s August 2020, and while yes, you might argue you do not need yet another blog in an already saturated internet, I have decided to team up with both my sisters to bring you a bit of our day-to-day lives, including the struggles and setbacks, to help you see that, hey, you are actually not the only one!
But back to the introductions we go. I am self-appointed editor-in-chief, and that is mostly because I set this little blog up from day one, so don’t listen to the girls telling you otherwise. I have a background in food & drink, latest covered position as a Buyer for a company in London, UK.
I am an introvert, as shy as it gets until I am ever so slightly tipsy. I like staying in, cooking and baking, watching silly things on Netflix and play Animal Crossing on my Switch until my eyes bleed. I also enjoy TikTok far too much, but that’s a story for a different day.
Two new editors, as mentioned, my sisters: Fred and Cristina.
Fred is the mastermind for all things design of this blog, and around the web, she can be found on Not a Skilful Sailor and dotting.away. She is the person that has pushed me after I lost my job to give this blog thing a shot again, and subsequently found herself tangled in it, one way or another.
She is the extrovert of the group, the person who’s struggling the most with the being home situation. She thrives around people, but was not like this growing up, let me tell you that. She is the coffee guru of the family, loves our cat TJ more than Cristina and myself (doesn’t even try to hide it a bit), and has got a new-found love for baking thanks to lockdown.
Cristina, she is the actual boss. She can put both Fred and I back in our places within seconds (it takes a look, the look). She is an aspiring writer and lover of all things books. Makes a mean Teriyaki sauce, between the many merits she has, and also is the youngest of the bunch.
She is as shy as I am, but a lot more strict and fun than I am, so she wins this one too. I owe her big time, including a Barbie Volley Ball from like, 1998, and she owes me for all the editing I do for her. She has become a smiler since a change in career a few months ago, and works in hospitality as well, just like the rest of us. You will end up loving her more than Fred and I, because everyone does.
Since this is just the re-launch, I want to quickly go through what you can expect to read about here, among the different things we love and will feature anyways:
- FOOD & DRINK – all the recipes your heart desires, and some more;
- STYLE & BEAUTY – we are suckers for skincare products and, well, clothes and shoes, so expect to see some here;
- TRAVEL – once this whole situation is a bit more clear and we can resume traveling, the list is already verrrrrryyyyy long;
- COFFEE – Fred will be your teacher, and will show you all the secrets and tricks of the trade;
- BOOKS – from what to read, to how to write one, Cristina will be your teacher for this one.
If you are ready to join us on this re-launch, get comfy, grab a cuppa and let’s make this happen!
