Delicious Melon Gin Cocktail with Cucumber
This post for the melon gin cocktail recipe was first published on the 17th of May 2021.
We have been on a mocktail streak lately, and for a second we had considered changing this melon gin cocktail from 2021 into a mocktail too. But when we gave it a shot again, we knew we couldn’t change a thing about it, because it’s perfect as is.
Back then when this melon gin cocktail was first put in writing, we were discussing how the weather had not changed for the best just yet. I guess we can say the same now, even though there is a little sun shining today. Back then, we called this post Chapter 3 of the newest saga in town: Where is Spring? Chapter 1 was the Strawberry Lemonade and Chapter 2 was the Whipped Feta & Roasted Tomato.
And just like I did some research into spring then, I am yet again bringing back a recipe that it’s going to tickle your fancy. A wonderful melon gin cocktail with fresh cucumber you’ll end up loving. Mostly because it will remind you of the beach, and being on holiday. Add a paper umbrella on top and you’re there: Caribbean (or any) beachside, no worries in the world.
Isn’t that something new? I mean, the worries in the world. So far 2021 has been nothing but worries, at least for me. From work being a major worry all through 2020 and continuing to be one of my worst nightmares. And then not being able to see mum & dad for what feels (and is) forever, nor the rest of the family. It’s just another one to forget. But today, as I am rereading this 3 years later, I can confirm the situation is way better.
But! Alas! We’re not the kind of people who will end up giving up, am I right?! So we crack on. We grab the shaker and prepare a great melon gin cocktail with cucumber.

Meet the melon gin cocktail recipe you’ll use all summer long

What ingredients do I NEED TO MAKE THIS MELON GIN cocktail?
Creating a melon gin cocktail is a refreshing way to enjoy the flavours of summer. Here are the ingredients and how they contribute to this delightful drink:
- Melon Simple Syrup:
- Flavour: This syrup adds a sweet, concentrated melon flavour to the melon gin cocktail. You can make melon simple syrup by blending melon with sugar and water, then straining the mixture;
- Sweetness: It balances the other elements of the drink, ensuring it’s not too tart or bitter;
- Gin:
- Base Spirit: Gin provides the alcoholic content and adds a botanical complexity with its juniper and other herbal notes;
- Complementary Flavors: The herbal notes of gin complement the sweetness of the melon and the freshness of the cucumber;
- Sparkling Water:
- Carbonation: Adds a fizzy texture to the cocktail, making it more refreshing;
- Dilution: Lightens the melon gin cocktail, making it more suitable for sipping and less intense in terms of alcohol content;
- Sliced Cucumber:
- Freshness: Adds a crisp, refreshing flavour that pairs well with the melon and gin;
- Aromatic: Enhances the overall sensory experience with its subtle, clean scent;
- Melon Balls:
- Garnish: These add visual appeal and a bit of extra melon flavour as they infuse into the drink;
- Texture: Provide a pleasant bite when consumed along with the melon gin cocktail;
- Ice:
- Chill: Keeps the melon gin cocktail cold, which is essential for a refreshing drink;
- Dilution: As the ice melts, it slightly dilutes the cocktail, balancing the flavours over time.
